Swimming

Swimming is the most important skill required by surf lifesavers. It is a high calibre competitive Surf Sport event, and forms part of combination events like the Ironman/Ironwoman and most team events such as Board Rescue, Cameron Relays and Taplin Relays. The Club has been lucky enough over the years having some legends of the sport like Don Morrison and Paul Lee.

During the season, the Club Swim is held every Sunday morning at 10:30am in front of the boat shed. The Club Swim is a handicapped swim race and all club members from Under 14s and older are encouraged to participate regardless of age and ability. Parents who have joined as part of a family membership are also welcome to participate in the Club’s “C” Grade swim

but are not eligible to win trophies. You can register your intention to swim by 10:15am with the Handicapper who will be in front of the boat shed. Everyone must complete two time trial swims to receive a handicap. There is usually a handicapped trophy swim once a month and winners are required to have completed at least 50% of prior swims for the season. Results are published weekly and can be found at: https://www.webscorer.com/cottsurf/.
