Parental Involvement
The Youth and Junior Sections are organised by the Development Officer and the Junior Activities Officer. An age group manager is appointed to each age group. The Cottesloe Surf Club is a volunteer organisation and we appreciate the support of parents. We find that members get more enjoyment from activities when their family are also involved.
Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in all aspects of junior activities. Parents can become involved by assisting with events that take place on the beach and in the water. You might be asked to set up the flags events or stand in the water so the children can swim and paddle around you (the kids love it when their parents are involved). While no experience is necessary, parents who wish to assist with water safety must complete the Surf Rescue Certificate course to become qualified surf lifesavers. A ratio of 1 lifesaver to 5 children in the water is maintained.
You can volunteer by contacting your child’s age group manager. If you have any queries please talk to the age managers or contact the Development Officer.
