The Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club is a volunteer organisation and greatly appreciates the support of parents. The Youth and Junior Sections are organised by the Development Officer and the Junior Activities Officer. An age group manager is appointed to each age group. We find that members get more enjoyment from activities when their family gets involved.
Parents are encouraged to have an active involvement in all aspects of junior activities. Parents can assist with events that take place on the beach and in the water. You might be asked to set up the flags events or stand in the water so the children can swim and paddle around you (the kids love it when their parents are involved). While no experience is necessary, parents who wish to assist with water safety must complete the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) course to become qualified surf life savers so that a ratio of one lifesaver to five children in the water is maintained. Please click here for more information about the Surf Life Saving policy which highlights the risk management procedures as well as the minimum requirements for the provision of water safety.
