The final bronze proficiency for this calendar year is happening this Sunday morning at 7:00am at the boatshed. This also a good opportunity to do other proficiencies, such as IRB, ARC/Defib and Spinal Management. This weekend is also the countdown for our competitors (as well as normal patrolling members), to get your minimum required hours up before the end of the calendar year. To reiterate, all active members are required to complete 16 hours of patrol between 1st January through to 31st January. If a new member has obtained their bronze medallion in the month of November, only 8 hours a required. This is the same for Active Reserve members looking to compete.
Jill Ferridge is looking for volunteers to fill our Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day patrols. We have already had a few members put their hand up for these but we require many more. If you can assist, please call Jill on 0430466885. This is an excellent opportunity for those members looking to make up those required hours. There are also many members who are actually down hours. These are required to be made up before your next rostered patrol, otherwise penalties will apply. A list of members who are down hours will be pinned up in the gym after this weekend’s patrols have been processed. Remember, after this weekend there are only 4 days of patrol left to make up hours. This equates to 32 patrolling hours which is more than ample time.
Are you partying hard on New Year’s Eve? We are, and so should you at Cottesloe SLSC’s Sunset Beats New Years Eve Party. Tickets are available online and are valued at $35 each. It is essential you buy these tickets prior to the event as no tickets will be sold on the door and this is an 18+ event. Last year saw 400 people see in the new year. Lets increase on that this year. All further information can be found on our website
Have you seen one of our Cottesloe Tents? We currently have a blue Sunsmart tent, but would like our Cottesloe one back. Please let Brian Noone, our Gear Officer, know if there is any information pertaining to this on 9317 6065.
The Cottesloe Classic Mile is fast approaching on Saturday 16th January 2010. You can enter for the swim through our website using a credit card or alternatively you can download the entry form and post it in to the office. We are looking for water safety volunteers to assist on the day. Irrelevant of your involvement, please forward this information to family and friends. We would love to see over 800 swimmers this year!
In addition to the Cottesloe Classic Mile (are you aware that there is also a Classic Quarter Mile swim?), we are also hosting the Haviana Thong Challenge on Tuesday 26th January. $10 per entry will be given to the club. Spread the word and come on down.
Lastly, on behalf of the Management Committee, have a very Merry Christmas and an enjoyable and prosperous New Year.
